What is SoundSea, and how does it work?
SoundSea is a music-streaming and discovery community for independent artists and fans. Explore music, follow creators and connect through artist pages and community features.
SoundSea is in active beta: some features are still being tested, and not every proposed membership or sales feature is available yet.
Is SoundSea free to use?
Yes. Fan Free costs $0, and you can listen to available streams and use supported community features without purchasing a subscription.
Artist plans have published intended pricing, but paid artist-plan enforcement and the $5.99 Fan Premium checkout are not live. Specific purchases of artist music or merchandise, where offered, are separate.
How do I create an account?
Choose Fan signup to create a listener account, or Artist signup if you are ready to create an artist identity.
Step by step
- Open the signup page.
- Complete the required account details and any email confirmation.
- Sign in and visit your profile to update how you appear.
You can add an artist page to an existing fan login later; you do not need a second account.
Can I use one account for listening and creating music?
Yes. A SoundSea login can have both a personal fan profile and a separately managed artist page.
Step by step
- Sign in with your existing fan account.
- Choose Become an Artist, or open Artist Studio.
- Create the artist page and publish it when it is ready.
Your follows, fan identity and existing purchases stay on the same login. An artist page is not automatically the same public identity as your fan profile.
How do I reset my password or recover my account?
Use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen to request password recovery.
Step by step
- Open Sign in.
- Select Forgot password? and follow the recovery instructions.
- If you can still sign in, review your recovery options under Profile.
If you cannot access the recovery method, submit a private support request once you can access your account, or use public beta feedback only for nonsensitive issues. Never post passwords or recovery codes publicly.
Listening & discovery
How do I find artists, songs and albums?
Browse Discover, search for a title or performer and explore artist pages to hear published tracks.
Step by step
- Open Discover.
- Search or browse genres and artists.
- Open an artist page to play a published track and explore their releases.
How do I play music and manage the listening queue?
Use a track's play controls. SoundSea's persistent player lets you keep listening while you browse supported pages.
Step by step
- Choose Play on a published track.
- Use the player to pause, skip or view the queue.
- Add tracks using the queue controls shown alongside the music when available.
Queue controls may differ by view and device. If a control is missing or playback stalls, report the specific page, device and browser.
How do I follow an artist?
Sign in, visit an artist's public page and use the Follow control.
Step by step
- Find the artist through Discover.
- Open the artist's page.
- Select Follow. Visit your Library to review followed artists.
Some new-release or event updates appear in your in-app notifications when the corresponding notification is supported. This is not an email or push-notification service.
How do I create and manage playlists?
Signed-in listeners can organize music in playlists through the Library area.
Step by step
- Open Library while signed in.
- Find the playlists section and create a playlist.
- Add tracks using the song or playlist controls, then return to Library to manage them.
Playlist visibility and reordering options depend on the controls shown in your account.
What should I do if music will not play or keeps buffering?
First check your network connection and whether the problem happens with only one track or all tracks.
Step by step
- Try another published song to narrow down the problem.
- Refresh the page and check that your browser is up to date.
- Disable an interfering browser extension or try another browser.
- If it still fails, contact support with the track URL, your device/browser and the error shown.
Never share passwords or private payment details when reporting a playback issue.
Artists & music uploads
How do I create and publish an artist page?
You can start an artist page from an existing SoundSea account without buying a plan or creating a new login.
Step by step
- Sign in and open Become an Artist or Artist Studio.
- Choose your artist name, page address, genres and profile details.
- In Artist Studio → Profile, check Publish this artist page and save.
- Use View public page to confirm the result.
Creating a page during beta does not automatically start a paid artist subscription.
How do I upload a song, album or EP?
Artist Studio → Music has separate Albums & EPs, Singles, Beats and Album Catalog tabs.
Step by step
- Open Artist Studio → Music.
- For one song, choose Singles. Enter a title, choose an audio file and optional artwork/genres.
- Check Publish track if it should appear publicly, then select Upload track.
- For an album or EP, choose Albums & EPs and upload 2–30 songs as a private draft. Review and publish it in Album Catalog.
Keep the audio and artwork rights-cleared. Regular song download sales and Beat Store license files are separate.
Which audio and artwork files can I upload?
The regular track uploader accepts supported audio files including MP3, WAV and FLAC; the upload controls also accept compatible audio formats. Music uploads are limited to 250 MB per file.
Square artwork around 1000 × 1000 pixels is recommended. JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF are accepted, with the final artwork limited to 5 MB after cropping.
Beat license files are different: Basic requires MP3, Unlimited requires WAV, and Stems requires ZIP, with a 250 MB limit each.
How do I change artwork, genres or artist photos?
Artist Studio separates artist identity from individual tracks.
Step by step
- Use Appearance for your artist banner and profile picture.
- Use Profile for artist-wide genres and other public information.
- Use Music to manage a track's cover artwork and track-specific genre.
- Use Photos to upload additional public artist-gallery images.
How do I edit, hide or manage published songs?
Use Artist Studio → Music → Album Catalog → Track catalog to change a title, genre, artwork or public visibility.
Step by step
- Find the track under Track catalog.
- Edit its fields and save changes.
- Choose Hide from public to unpublish a track, or Republish track to make it public again.
Hiding a track prevents new public listening and purchases; it does not automatically revoke existing paid download access. Permanent deletion remains restricted.
Beat Store & producer licensing
How do I upload a beat and list it in the Beat Store?
Go directly to Artist Studio → Music → Beats to upload a playable beat preview, then optionally configure license files. No single-song upload is required.
Step by step
- Sign in and open Artist Studio → Music → Beats. Founding Members already have selling access; other sellers need an eligible active artist membership. Finish Stripe Connect onboarding under Billing so both payments and payouts are enabled before purchases.
- Under Upload a new beat, enter the beat title, choose your instrumental audio preview, and optionally add genres and square artwork.
- Optionally check Publish the beat preview for public listening, then choose Upload beat. It is stored as a beat, not a single.
- Under Your beats, find the new beat and choose Sell as a beat only if you want to configure license files.
- For Basic, select an MP3; for Unlimited, a WAV; for Stems, a ZIP archive.
- Enter a price of at least $0.50 and replace the sample with your own license text (80–4,000 characters); confirm you are the seller and own or have permission to license the beat.
- Choose Save Basic, Save Unlimited or Save Stems.
- Open your public artist page and /beats to confirm the listing.
Each beat license file can be up to 250 MB. Only publish music, samples and stems you own or are authorized to license.
Publishing the beat preview allows listening; adding an active license offer can create a public Beat Store listing. Preparing an offer never charges a buyer. Checkout remains disabled until owner approval and explicit platform activation.
Older songs configured for licensing remain accessible under Manage licenses for older songs or album tracks.
What is the difference between Basic, Unlimited and Stems?
The three options currently identify different delivery formats: Basic = MP3, Unlimited = WAV, and Stems = ZIP of separate tracks.
These labels do not grant automatic copyright transfer, exclusivity or a legally standardized set of rights. Each producer controls the displayed draft license text.
All Beat Store license templates are still under review. Before paid checkout launches, exact permissions, use limits, sample clearance, Content ID rules and other legal terms must be finalized.
How do I set beat prices or update license terms?
Each beat tier has its own price, attached file and editable license text inside Sell as a beat.
Step by step
- Open Artist Studio → Music → Beats, find the song and click Sell as a beat.
- Enter the new price, choose the appropriate file again and edit the license text.
- Select the tier's Save button, then check the displayed price and license on the public artist page.
Prices must be between $0.50 and $10,000. The license editor requires a fresh file selection when saving changes. Removing an offer disables its public listing.
Draft producer-entered terms are not attorney-approved SoundSea licenses.
Where can customers find my beats?
Active beat offers appear on your public artist-song page and in the public Beats marketplace once the artist page and stream-enabled track are published.
Step by step
- Visit the public Beats marketplace.
- Find your producer name or beat title in the available results.
- Choose Preview beat & licenses to open the artist page at the matching license options.
Marketplace filtering currently searches only the loaded page of offers, not the full catalog. An offer may be missing from a filtered page even if it exists on a different page.
Why can't customers purchase beats yet?
Beat Store checkout is intentionally disabled during the public preview.
Producers can upload files, set prices, and display license details. Buyers can browse and listen, but cannot complete beat purchases or receive paid beat files.
Checkout requires legal/license review, real-file and Stripe test-mode fulfillment checks, and an explicit SoundSea owner launch decision. Do not enter payment details for a beat purchase at this stage.
Pricing, sales & memberships
What are SoundSea's plans and prices?
Fan Free is $0. Approved planned pricing is Fan Premium $5.99/month, Artist Starter $6.99/month, Artist Pro $14.99/month and Label/Team $29.99/month (USD).
The Fan Premium payment checkout and its ad-free benefit are not active. Artist-plan enforcement, the intended 90-day card-free Artist Pro trial and related billing features still need separate rollout and verification.
A displayed plan price is not proof that you are currently subscribed or will automatically be charged.
What is a SoundSea Founding Member?
The Founding Member program is intended to recognize eligible beta participants with lifetime Artist Pro and ad-free benefits, without charges.
Enrollment remains open until SoundSea's owner explicitly closes it. The lifetime entitlements and ad-free enforcement are not fully launched; do not treat a badge or preview benefit as evidence that paid billing is running.
Founding Members must not be automatically charged for the intended lifetime benefits.
How do artists connect Stripe to sell downloads or merchandise?
Artist download and merchandise purchases use the artist's own Stripe Connect account, separate from SoundSea platform subscriptions.
Step by step
- Sign in and open Artist Studio.
- Choose Billing and follow the Stripe Connect setup shown for your account.
- Complete Stripe's own identity and payout verification.
- Review your Store or music download configuration before offering paid items.
Beat Store checkout remains off even if an artist has Stripe Connect ready. Never send card details to another artist or to SoundSea support.
Does SoundSea charge a commission on artist sales?
SoundSea's platform commission on ordinary artist music-download and merchandise sales is 0%.
Stripe payment-processing fees still apply and depend on payment method, location and account terms. The platform's subscriptions are separate from a producer's artist sale.
Beat Store monetization and license-sale terms have not been activated or independently finalized.
Where can I access music I've purchased?
Sign in with the same account used to purchase the music and open Purchases to view available paid orders or download access.
Step by step
- Sign in to the buyer account.
- Open My Music → Purchases or go directly to Purchases.
- Locate the purchase and follow the available download controls.
Keep your account credentials private. If an existing paid download is missing, contact support with the order details but never send full card numbers.
Beat licensing purchases are not available yet.
Safety, support & troubleshooting
How do I contact SoundSea support?
SoundSea has a private support and reports inbox available to signed-in members.
Step by step
- Sign in to SoundSea.
- Open Help & Reports.
- Choose Get support, pick a category and describe the issue in at least 20 characters.
- Submit the request and return to the same page to check status and SoundSea's reply.
Support replies appear in your private inbox; automated email replies are not enabled. Public beta feedback is separate and visible to everyone.
How do I report inappropriate content or harassment?
Use a Report link where available on Sound Wall content, artist updates, videos or Help Wanted listings, or file a private report.
Step by step
- Choose Report next to the item if a Report link is displayed.
- Sign in if required.
- Describe what happened, referencing the post or page.
- Submit your report; the SoundSea owner reviews evidence before any moderation action.
Reporting something does not automatically remove it. Do not use the support inbox for emergencies.
How do I report suspected copyright infringement?
Use SoundSea's private support flow and select Copyright concern. Include the exact public URL and a concise description of the work or rights at issue.
Step by step
- Sign in and open Help & Reports.
- Choose Get support and Copyright concern.
- Include the relevant artist/song/beat URL and explain your concern.
- Submit the report for review.
Do not upload third-party recordings, samples, artwork or stems without permission. A copyright report is not proof of infringement and will be reviewed before action.
How do I report a bug or technical problem?
Use private support for account-specific issues, or Public Beta Feedback for general testing reports that contain no sensitive information.
Step by step
- Record the page URL, what you clicked, what happened and what you expected.
- Note device, browser and any exact error message.
- Submit a private support case or post nonsensitive feedback on the public board.
Do not post passwords, card numbers, order secrets, private download links or recovery codes on the public feedback board.
How can I manage my privacy and account information?
You can control how your fan profile is displayed and manage recovery options from Profile.
Step by step
- Sign in and open Profile.
- Review the fan profile's public-visibility controls.
- Update account recovery options as needed.
- Contact support for questions about access or data.
Full self-service account deletion is currently disabled to protect purchases, artist media and financial records. Do not assume hiding a profile permanently deletes associated data.
We're here to help.
Use private support for account, payment, copyright or safety concerns. For general suggestions, share public beta feedback without private details.
